What is an Online Game?

An online game is one that may be accessed over the Internet or a computer network.

They can be played online games on PCs, mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, among other devices. Online games can sometimes be downloaded for free, while other times you must pay a fee to play online games. Online games come in a variety of genres, such as first-person shooters, strategy games, and massively multiplayer online role-playing games like ludo, chess, and rummy.

Online Gaming in India

Online gaming has grown in popularity in recent years, particularly in India.

It has risen in importance in the country as the internet and mobile games have become more prevalent. However, like with any quickly rising sector, proposals for additional regulation to ensure fair play and consumer protection have been made.

Effective April 6, 2023, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued regulations particularly for online real money gaming. These rules ("Amendments") were added to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 ("IT Rules"). The Amendments mark an important turning point for India's online gaming industry, which has long wanted national controls rather than state-by-state legislation.
